Honey Harvests
Join Bees in the D and be part of our honey harvest! We are calling for enthusiastic volunteers to assist in the fascinating process of honey extraction. As a volunteer, you’ll work alongside our experienced beekeepers, collect honey frames, and help with the extraction and bottling of our delicious, locally-produced honey. This is a unique opportunity to learn about sustainable beekeeping and make a tangible impact on our local ecosystem. We'll have crafts, opportunities to interact with live bugs and chances to learn about what you can do at home to help bugs and other pollinators. Then join us for a guided walk around Humbug Marsh as we search for dragonflies, butterflies and other native insects.

Save the Date for Detroit Abloom's 4th annual Vegan Fest! Every season we expand this event to bring additional vendors and educational information about plant-based eating. This is an outdoor event held at our flower farm!

A celebration of our tiny but important six-legged friends. Go on an insect safari, hold live bugs, bug crafts and games, try the inflatables, attend a presentation by Bees in the D, and more!
Honeybees and Beyond
Join the OAC and Bees in the D for an evening all about a hardworking pollinator, the honeybee! Enjoy a presentation about these fascinating insects while sipping local Michigan wine. Stick around after the presentation for a native seed-paper craft. We’ll provide supplies, materials, and instruction. Take home your final product to sow in your yard – providing habitat for honeybees and other important pollinators! This event is open to those 21 and older and sponsored by Friends of the OAC. Beer, wine, non-alcoholic refreshments, and light snacks will be provided.
Frame Bee School
In our two hours with their bee-loving team, we’ll explore the fascinating world of honeybees and their essential role in our ecosystem. Get ready to learn the ins and outs of beekeeping, from setting up your own hive to understanding the complex social structure of a bee colony. You’ll also discover the process behind honey production, and even have a chance to taste the sweet results of these busy bees’ hard work.
