DOWNTOWN BOXING GYM

The Downtown Boxing Gym currently serves more than 150 students between the ages of 8 and 18. Our students come to us from 30 different zip codes and 57 schools across Detroit and nearby suburbs.

Through education, athletics, mentorship and intervention, the Downtown Boxing Gym empowers Detroit students to be positive and productive members of society.

FEATHER-STONE GARDEN

Rooted in Detroit’s MorningSide neighborhood, Featherstone Garden sells produce year-round to neighbors and local restaurants. Featherstone Garden’s team strives to educate its community on the health and wellness benefits of a plant-centered diet. As a non-certified organic operation, the garden intercrops all-natural greens, veggies, herbs and flowers that compliment each other as companion plants, support native pollinators, and contribute to a healthy urban ecosystem.

DTE O'SHEA SOLAR FARM

The 20-acre decommissioned O'Shea Park is being re-imagined through a collaboration between The City of Detroit and DTE Energy. Solar panels will be installed on 9.6 Acres along the Interstate and Greenfield edges of the park. This leaves roughly 4 acres of active park area bordering the community that will receive a major renovation, including new walking paths, resurfaced basketball courts, play fields and community gathering space with seating, new trees and native flower beds.

The park builds upon the theme of sustainability with a bioretention garden at the corner of Rutherford and Capitol built by Detroit Water and Sewer Department. The bioretention garden helps manage stormwater from the park and adjacent street to reduce neighborhood flooding, and also provides an opportunity to showcase native plantings.

DETROIT CITY DISTILLERY

Detroit City Distillery creates small batch artisanal whiskey, gin and vodka using the finest local ingredients sourced directly from farms near our distillery and tasting room located in Detroit's famed Eastern Market. The result is a drink of distinction made for the revolutionaries rewriting the history of a great American city.

DETROIT ABLOOM

Detroit Abloom is a non-profit cut flower farm growing organic flowers, native and pollinator plants and building butterfly and sanctuary gardens, one by one!

GM RENAISSANCE CENTER

The Renaissance Center is one of Detroit's most iconic buildings. Serving as the world headquarters of GM, a first-class hotel, and a symbol of Detroit's revival. Bees in the D currently maintains several hives upon this iconic building's green roof.

GROSSE POINTE YACHT CLUB

The Grosse Pointe Yacht Club is a private boating, and social club founded in 1914 and is located on the shore of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI. They are currently the proud home of two honey bee hives from Bees in the D, which are both located on the roof overlooking the lake.

STEP CENTRAL

Services To Enhance Potential (STEP) is a non-profit organization that provides supports and services to nearly 1,300 persons with disabilities and other mental health needs in Wayne County. A major goal of Services To Enhance Potential is to increase the number of persons who are employed, self-employed, and volunteer in their communities. STEP provides and supports a variety of employment and self-employment options. Bees in the D currently maintains hives at their Westland location.

BELLEVILLE LIBRARY

The Belleville Area District Library serves the residents of the City of Belleville, the Township of Sumpter, and the Charter Township of Van Buren. The library currently has three beehives located on the upper roof of the main building. While they can't be seen from the ground, the library regularly posts pictures of what's abuzz with the bees.

PLYMOUTH ARTS & REC COMPLEX

PARC- Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit that started out as a grassroots group of local citizens who banded together to rescue, re-purpose and restore the 100 year old historical building previously known as Central Middle School and the original Plymouth High. This iconic building now known as PARC is located in the heart of downtown Plymouth and is still beloved by generations of people who attended school here.

STELLANTIS DUNDEE ENGINE PLANT

Stellantis is a North American automaker with a new name and a long history. Stellantis US designs, engineers, manufactures, and sells vehicles under the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and FIAT brands, as well as the SRT performance vehicle designation. They currently operate the Dundee Engine Plant that occupies 275 acres of land, 100 of which are covered in Michigan prairie. Bees in the D has collaborated with Stellantis to support a colony of honeybees at the company’s Dundee plant, where the natural area at the facility is ideal for supporting two hives.

CORE ORCHARDS

The Core Orchards’ vision is to create a green campus in Detroit’s East Side that will increase access to fresh, nutritious foods for those in our neighborhood, and thus encourage healthier lifestyles. Additionally, Core Orchards is designed to create a community space that welcomes members of neighboring communities. The campus will center around an 11 acre U-Pick Apple Orchard with accompanying Orchard Market and ADA-Accessible Community Gardens. Core Orchards Detroit will become a unique urban farming model that offers educational, vocational, and nutritional opportunities to the immediate neighborhood and the greater Metro-Detroit community.

Blake’s Orchard is a family-owned and operated establishment located on a 120-acre farm in the quaint village of Armada, MI, just an hour northeast of Detroit.
