How long does honey last?
Honey is one of the few foods that, when stored properly, is known to have an eternal shelf life. Edible honey has even been found in several thousand-year-old Egyptian tombs!
Then why do crystals form in honey?
Pure, raw, unprocessed honey has a natural tendency to crystallize over time & when stored in lower temperatures. Luckily, these crystals actually preserve the flavor & quality of your honey.
Don't like the crystals? No problem!
Heat a pot of water to just before boiling, remove from heat, & place the jar in water until crystals dissipate. Be sure to never microwave or boil your honey, as high heat will destroy many of the beneficial enzymes & vitamins honey provides.
