Tribute To
Keith Michael Abentrod

AUGUST 12, 1952 – JUNE 21, 2022

Keith Michael Abentrod of Franklin, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on the Summer Solstice, June 21, 2022. He was proud to have been born in Detroit in 1952. Beloved husband of N. Susan Abentrod; Brother of Ken, Nancy (Ray) Nagy, and Terri (Darrel) Ulrich. He also leaves many beloved in-laws, dear nieces and nephews, and many, many dear friends. Keith created and opened Speedy Tees, in Birmingham in 1984. He was an accomplished musician, an artist, and made a number of documentaries of his Detroit.

His final words were “I am having fun.”

Keith was a strong supporter of the movement to save the bees. At his home in Franklin, Michigan, Keith generously hosted hives for "Bees in the D," a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to saving Michigan's pollinator population. Through this, he was able to bring over 120,000 pollinators to Franklin, dramatically aiding the local environment therefore providing the pollination necessary for countless gardens, flowers, and trees to thrive. He was an avid gardener, took joy in making his own wine, and enjoyed the bountiful fruit trees he had planted which were pollinated by the addition of his honeybees.

In his honor, his family is looking to continue his mission while telling Keith's story on every jar of honey from his Franklin home.

To support Keith's mission, please consider donating to Bees in the D, so they may continue to make an impact for generations to come.
